We, that is, my family, friends and I were watching the television. I was 14 years of age and the day was a Saturday, 30th July and my sister’s 9th birthday. So we had a birthday party and everyone was glued to the television.
When Germany scored the equalising goal we were all very disappointed, as you can imagine. Then the match went into extra time and for the next half hour we could not take our eyes off the television. Then England scored the winning goal and there was tremendous uproar in our house as everyone, including the children, were shouting and making quite a noise.
After we recovered we got back to the job in hand and that was to celebrate my sister’s 9th birthday.
My parents probably have better memories than I do.
