8 - Pre-Tournament Jim Maddin: Being booed as a "Uruguayan" at the Opening Ceremony

My school was one of those selected to provide a group of boys for the opening ceremony of the 1966 World Cup. Each school " team " was given a country to represent and ours was Uruguay. We were given the appropriate kit to wear and marched around the pitch in front of the fans and eventually all line up in the centre of the pitch. Of course the first game was England v Uruguay so as we walked around everyone booed, still makes me chuckle.
