Mark Burns: 1966 F.A. Cup Final, Everton v. Sheffield Wednesday

1966. Wembley. Perhaps the greatest game ever in English football.

Everton 3 Sheffield Wednesday 2.

The Cup Final that year is one of my earliest memories, as my Dad's family stayed with us before the match. My father was Tommy Burns. A name famous throughout soccer. The great Tommy Burns: captain and manager of Celtic and all that. He wasn't related to my Dad as far as I know.

There was another fairly well known match held that year at Wembley too I'm told. I was only tiny so it was the World Cup Willie lion that really got my attention at the time. I still have a couple of badges with him on.
