15 - Watching the Final in Germany Lesley Suckling: watching on the German/Austrian border

I remember it, I was 10 years old and living in Germany with my family as my father was in the army and based there.

My father, my brother and I were in a pub somewhere on the Austrian/German border on holiday and we watched the game. I don’t think I took too much notice of the game except the ending which caused quite a stir with everyone being very cross. We were the only English people there and we had to sneak out very quietly.

Once outside my father said it was safe to jump up and down and shout hooray!
