19 - Births, Marriages and Deaths A Collection of wedding and honeymoon memories

Not only is 30th July 1966 remembered as the greatest day in English football history but also it was the greatest day for my Mum (Joyce) & my Dad (Jim) Wood as it was the day they got married in Purley, Croydon. Apparently during the wedding reception the radio was on so everyone wouldn't miss the match. So it would have been their Golden Wedding Anniversary this year but sadly my mum passed away 8 years ago. It's always been a good question for me to answer at a pub quiz as not everyone remembers the date! Carol Kinder

I was forced to watch the match whilst on honeymoon in Norway. Commentary was in Norwegian, but that didn't matter! We were with a few more English holidaymakers and one German man who was not happy! Anne Malpus

John and I got married on the 9th July 1966 during the World Cup and we sat and watched the match on honeymoon. What wonderful memories. Maureen & John Mongey

Married at St. Paul's Church Ryhope in morning had our reception at Palantine Hotel in Sunderland - a day to remember on your wedding day. Alan Cummings
