14 - Following the Final on Holiday Jennifer Pitcher: travelling home from our holiday in Cornwall

The family, mom dad, my elder brother Geoff 21, younger brother Nick 10, myself Jennifer 18, were in an old Ford Cortina, returning from a holiday in St Ives, Cornwall.

This was our annual long haul from suburbs of North Birmingham to St Ives, for our wonderful fortnight in the sun, it was sunny then! My elder brother had an old transistor radio, which was pressed against the window, to aid reception, not very successfully, to listen to the match. As we appeared out of the Perry Barr underpass - anyone who knows Birmingham will know it – we scored and all hell broke out! Even for me, I was not very interested in football, only boys at that stage in my life!

Even Dad, who was exhausted, and apprehensive, as always, about the car surviving the journey with us noisy moaning lot, cheered and we were nearly home!
