14 - Following the Final on Holiday Linda Corkish: staying at my aunt's house in Wembley

With regard to remembering where we were on July 26th 1966 - it was two days before my 11th birthday and I, along with my mum, dad and younger brother Derek, arrived at about 3pm at Euston Station for a two week holiday at my aunt's house In Stonebridge Park, Wembley. I always remember dad commenting on how quiet it was at Euston!

As we walked to my aunt's house we heard an almighty roar! Mum said maybe England have scored!

My claim to fame is actually being in Wembley on the day of the World Cup and hearing the roar of the crowd when England scored! It was very exciting when he heard on the news that England had won.

We actually watched the game in the cinema in London the next day. It was packed with people cheering at the goals!

Quite exciting for a first trip to London!
