As a small boy standing with my dad in the deserted high street of Baden something in Germany, looking through a TV shop front window, in order to watch the World Cup on a German TV.
A German gentleman drove past and asked in German and then in English our predicament, on explaining we were on a camping holiday with no TV, he insisted that he drove us to his luxury apartment to watch with his family.
With his food and drink hospitality we watched until the end
He then applauded and announced ‘England win again” to this day I have no idea as to what win he was referring to.
I always think of him and his family whenever Germany play AND WIN OF COURSE.
