8 - Pre-Tournament Stephen Williams: tickets the old-fashioned way

As a 16 year old in 1966, seeing a small advert in Charles Buchan's Football Monthly Magazine advertising World Cup tickets for the forthcoming World Cup games at Wembley. Seems ridiculous now but all I did was send off my application with a Postal Order (paid for with my paper round money) and hey presto, I had tickets for all the England games through to the semi final.

I saw every England game and was right behind the goal when Bobby Charlton scored our first goal of the tournament, that I remember as a 25 yard screamer. Great memories, and sadly, doing the maths, I'm probably one of the few left that was actually there.
